Monel

Monel metal, nickel-copper alloy, alloyed with iron, manganese and other elements. Developed in 1905 in the laboratories of the company «International Nickel Company of Canada», and named for its president, A. Monell. It has high corrosion resistance (in air, in water, many acids and strong alkalis) in combination with relatively high mechanical strength; heat-resistant to 500 ° C. It is manufactured in the form of rods, sheets and strips of soft and hard (work hardened) state. It is applyed for the manufacture of parts and machines in chemical, shipbuilding, medical, petroleum, textile and other industries.
